What is Menopause?Updated 2 years ago

Symptoms of Menopause

Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of reproductive years for women, typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55.

A female has entered menopause if at least 12 months have passed since their last period.

The years leading up to menopause are called the menopausal transition, or perimenopause. This stage can also come with symptoms, which may last for several years — sometimes up to 14 years.

While it is a universal experience for all women, the symptoms and severity of menopause can vary greatly from person to person.

The most common symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. These symptoms can cause significant discomfort and distress, and in some cases, they can lead to poor quality of life. Women may struggle with managing these symptoms while trying to maintain their daily routines, relationships, and overall well-being.

The symptoms of menopause are like a waterfall: they each create their own new problem, which links to another problem, and so on. While they’re happening, it’s almost a daily cycle of discomfort and unpleasantness.
